I joined McBride almost 20 years ago and joined the GIS and SAP Applications team that look after the shop floor processes, Manufacturing, Warehouse Management, Quality etc. We also have responsibility for the SAP master data that drives the business, and the regulatory module of SAP that classifies our products. Originally we only supported and developed the UK systems and processes but in 2012 we became responsible for all the Manufacturing sites and Warehouse processes across McBride. I now lead that team. As the business strives for continuous improvement, we look for ways to use SAP functionality and new technology to support the business at an operational level. McBride believe in their people and as part of this support and development they have an internal Coaching and Mentoring Programme. They have supported my own development and I am now an internal coach - I coach people at all levels and from all areas of the business to help them understand their goals and their personal development. I have practiced as an internal coach for nearly 10 years and it gives me great satisfaction.

I have been working for McBride for 6 years. I have started my journey in 2014 as Engineer in Product Development for ADW application for Business Unit East. Since July 2019 I was promoted to lead the Powder Formulation team, where every day is a new challenge. I lead a very professional team whom continue to push limits, accept bigger challenges, think out of the box and broaden their technical expertise to collectively deliver great achievements. My philosophy: 'we never lose, either we win or we learn'. Remember, for every problem there is a solution! so focus on solutions rather than problems.

Working in Purchasing means you are responsible for making crucial decisions, such as negotiating high value contracts with suppliers, managing logistic solutions, doing market research and analysis, optimising product costs, as well as providing access to advanced operations and strategies. No day is the same with many challenging aspects, provided by changes in foreign currency, political change, technological advances, environmental fluctuations, and socio-cultural change, all add to the excitement of working within the role of the Purchasing Team.

I have worked for McBride for over a year. Distribution in McBride was previously under the radar so coming into what was seemingly a blank canvas was quite the challenge; but also an opportunity to help shape the future of Transport. After gaining broader understanding of the existing Distribution network, I pursued to establish a foundation on our Operational and Financial activity. With the help of the wider teams, we have been able to narrow this gap. As a result of this, we are now able to identify trends in our network and ascertain how operational changes and challenges impact McBride financially. Most importantly, we have developed and maintained a culture of continuous improvement – I believe this should be the responsibility of everyone. McBride has helped me further utilise an additional set of skills to a variety of Stakeholders and a wider network. This is important as we must always consider not only our professional development but also personal growth.
